Enable color syntax in vim (works on OS X) and for ls command

For vim add the following lines in your .vimrc file

set nocompatible
syntax on

For ls add the following in your .profile file (for a black background, colors have been redefined in LSCOLORS).

export CLICOLOR=1
export LSCOLORS=gxBxhxDxfxhxhxhxhxcxcx
